Israr Chishti belongs to the great Chishtia Clan of the Sub-continent. Son of the eminent Sufi poet and Naat khawn, Azam Chishti. Professor of Graphic design and chairman department of graphic design and the department of Performing arts and music, University of the Punjab, Lahore. He learnt Classical music from the Gawaliar gharana and Ghazal singing from Ustaad Mehdi Hassan Khan sahib. He is also a disciple of Ustaad Main Shaukat Hussain sahib in Tabla. He established department of music at Punjab university in 2006. His poetry book " Kari Dhoop" is published in 2023.
