Who is Moumita Mitra?

Moumita Mitra is a South Asian classical music artist known for Kirana, Khayal, Vocal.

 

Moumita Mitra is a Hindustani classical vocalist trained in the Kirana Gharana under the late Pandit A.T. Kannan and his disciple Sri Anjan Majumdar. She is currently studying the Kotali Gharana under Sri Subhashis Mukherjee, a disciple of the late Pandit Manas Chakraborty.

She holds a first-class M.A. in Khayal from Rabindra Bharati University and is an ‘A’ grade artist in Khayal and B-High grade artist in Thumri-Dadra at All India Radio. An empanelled artist of the ICCR and a recipient of the Junior Research Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, she has served as a guest lecturer of vocal music at Rabindra Bharati University and as a Hindustani music teacher and performer at the Embassy of India, Beijing.

Moumita has performed and conducted workshops across India as well as in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and China.
