Who is Ustad Nazim Ali Khan?
Ustad Nazim Ali Khan is a South Asian classical music artist known for Khayal, Sarangi.
Born in 1928 in Shahalmi, Lahore, Nazim Ali Khan was the son of Rahim Buksh, a sarangi player. From a tender age, he began learning sarangi under the guidance of his grandfather, Ustad Nikkay Khan. During his early career as a sarangi player, Nazim Ali Khan honed his skills in Takya Mirasian and collaborated with renowned vocalists like Aashiq Ali Khan, Umeed Ali Khan, and Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. He also ventured into the realm of cinema as a musician. In the 1950s, he became a disciple of Ustad Akhtar Hussain Khan of Patiala. By the mid-1960s, he had joined Radio Pakistan Lahore, where he served as a staff artist until his demise. Known for his exceptional accompanying skills and prowess as a soloist, Nazim Ali Khan excelled in both light classical and ghazal genres. He passed away in Lahore in 1998.
